Running

Take the old newspaper, rip it up into pieces
wrap it around the twigs we're building fires on the beaches
the juice drips down her chin, biting into the peaches
she raises her fist up and screams “Here’s to the pleasure seekers”
RUNNING!
I am the wind that shakes the leaves A voice off in the distance that says “You shall be free!”
RUNNING!
Oh this is just what I need
To be carried on the wind
Like the dandelion seeds
(Alright)
The sky looks beautiful tonight
like someone took a paint brush
With a can of paint the size of Lake Huron
and the colour was called "voluptuous"
and the words on the tip of your tongue
but you can’t recall what it is
then you realize it doesn’t matter much when you're naked in front of an audience
RUNNIN!
I am the wind that shakes the leaves
I'm voice off in the distance says "you shall be set free!"
RUNNIN’
Oh this is just what I need
To be carried on the wind
Like the dandelion seeds
(Alright)
There is a woman, she is tried and she is true
she kicked her shoes into the dirt and away she flew
There is a sound, that I can feel
Those good vibrations that come in and out the field
There is a bird, I don’t remember what it’s called
but it’s song gets stuck in my head and it helps me get along
And that woman’s runnin’
she’s runnin' up a flight a stairs,
heart racin'
No more fighting, no more chasin’
Up one flight of stairs now
Up two flights of stairs now
Up three flights of stairs now
Up Four flights of stairs now
Up five flights of stairs now
Up Six flights of stairs now
Up Seven flights of stairs now
Up eight flights of stairs now
She’s going all the way
All the way to the top!
RUNNING!
I am the wind that shakes the leaves
I'm a voice off in the distance that says “You shall be free!”
RUNNING!
Oh this is just what I need
To be carried on the wind
Like the dandelion seeds
RUNNING!
The dogs are tearing off the leash
Pushing up against the pavement
Setting fire to the street
RUNNING!
Oh this is just what I need
To be carried on the wind Like the dandelion seeds
(Alright)

Monarch

Saw the heat rising up from the pavement
took my camera out for a walk
there were tourists, they I think they were from England
and they started to talk...
"Oh Michael he acts like an infant
The boy just doesn't know what he wants
I’ll be talking to him for a minute and the next he's gone
always lost in thought"
You walk alone, fists clenched like a destroyer
You're floating in and out of many scenes
Your presence fits the character, the voyeur
who hopes that they mean something to somebody
I remember the party was good
I invited myself inside
did my best to avoid looking desperate, and tried to be polite
I keep my conversations are quick and convenient
I try to keep my words general and brief
No one wants their leaving to give others a sense of relief
(Please make your exit discrete)
And this I know, I travel like a nomad
or a monarch, gently moving their wings
Sending out waves, if only for the hope that
You’re not lost at sea, it’s just space in between
And this I know, I travel like a nomad
or a monarch, gently moving their wings
Sending out waves, if only for the hope that
You’re not lost at sea, it’s just space in between

Highway Bandits
03:39

We got into the pickup, said bittersweet goodbye
We were outrunning a storm, keeping underneath blue skies
On the highway packing bandits, playing some cowboy song
Our future “Gentle On My Mind” as you would just look on
Way out into the distance, but neither of us looking forward
The drive was just interlude, before home became a sick ward
And with every mile that passed, our childhood quickly fading
Do you remember Edinburgh?
When I suddenly went astray
I could only find my way back
When I heard you call my name
And I know, I am my father’s son
his blood runs thick inside of both our palms
And as drips into our veins
it’s filling up the pen that will sign my fate but is it real?
Is it real?
I gotta figure it out
When I asked about directions
you said nothing was set it’s just decisions, decisions and then on to the next
"Do I have to spell it out for you, in bright red letters?
There is division, division between your past and present.”
And we hit hotel beds, the skies a crimson hue
we drank cheap beer and we talked bout how there’s nothing you can do.
Hope is a powerful weapon some times you find that it won’t have much use
My morbid side was certainly coming through
That part of me you were never all that used to
Well I’ve never seen you smile for bad news
And your arrow still flies true.
And I know
I am my father’s son
his blood runs thick inside of both our palms
And as it drips into our veins
It's filling up the pen that will sign my fate
Is it real?
Is it real?
I gotta figure it out
